LCR Honda team manager Lucio Cecchinello expressed his view that Johann Zarco’s move to the factory Honda team for 2026 wouldn’t bring any benefits to the French rider. Zarco, 34, has openly expressed his desire to join the works squad next season once Luca Marini’s contract expires. Cecchinello emphasized the strong bond between Zarco, the team, and the engineers at LCR, stating it would be a pity to disrupt that by changing teams. While understanding Zarco’s perspective and the appeal of racing for a factory team, Cecchinello highlighted that LCR Honda has the same equipment and factory-specific parts. Zarco, motivated partially by the prestige of a factory team, made a promising start to his home Grand Prix, showcasing competitive pace despite uncertainties about his future.
